  1. Ph.D. Pharmaceutics – National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Punjab, India - November, 2011

Research summary:

Formulation scientist with experience in pharmaceutical material science (preformulation, API solid-state modification) and formulation development. My PhD work focused on ‘Pharmaceutical product development of a model amorphous solid dispersion’. Some key investigated areas were amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) phase behavior characterization using gamut of thermal/crystallographic/spectroscopic techniques, preformulation profiling, understanding of solid-liquid interfacial interactions and dissolution behavior, surface molecular mobility and surface stabilization of ASDs, followed by development of ‘barrier coated ASD layered particles’ as a tailor-made formulation strategy.

I hold industrial R&D experience in pharmaceutical product (oral solid & liquids) development, encompassing activities from conceptualization of formulation strategy to technology transfer at manufacturing locations and cross-functional activities for drug product filing.

My current research area is development of electrospinning and thin film technologies as downstream continuous manufacturing platforms at the Novartis-MIT Center for Continuous Manufacturing. I also provide general pharmaceutical science support for all downstream processes that are considering oral solid dosage forms as the end goal.
